Date: August 26, 2024: India Post has officially announced the 2024 merit list for the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment, excluding candidates from Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir. The comprehensive merit list for all other regions is now available for review. According to the latest update from India Post, the merit lists for Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir have not been released due to the ongoing model code of conduct in these states. The official notification states, “DS Online Engagement Schedule, July-2024: List-I of Shortlisted Candidates Published for all Circles (Except Haryana & Jammu Kashmir as Model Code of Conduct is in Force in these States).”
The first merit list was published on August 19, 2024. Candidates listed in this initial round are required to complete their document verification by September 3, 2024. For those appearing in the second merit list, the deadline for verification is September 6, 2024.
This recruitment drive is aimed at filling 44,228 GDS vacancies across 23 postal circles in India. Successful candidates will be appointed as Gramin Dak Sevaks, including roles such as Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevaks, within various Department of Posts offices.
Salary and Benefits:
Gramin Dak Sevaks receive a Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA), with salary ranges as follows:
- Branch Postmaster (BPM): ₹12,000 to ₹29,380
- Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 to ₹24,470
In addition to the TRCA, GDS employees are eligible for various allowances and social security benefits, including the GDS Gratuity and the Service Discharge Benefit Scheme, which is similar to the New Pension Scheme available to regular employees.
